Doris Patz is one of many Maryland donors supporting students through scholarships. Laurence Jackson, pictured here with Mrs. Patz, is the current recipient of the Doris Patz Regents Scholarship. He has created a film honoring Mrs. Patz and her philanthropic efforts, which will be shown at the Celebration of Scholarships luncheon on April 23rd and later posted on this site. Mrs. Patz also keeps in contact with the former recipient of the Patz scholarship, Julie Singer. Please click here to read a moving letter to Mrs. Patz from Julie.
When Philip, M.Ed.’51 and Betty June Warner started building their first home following instructions from a Popular Mechanics book in the 1950s, they could not foresee that future real estate projects would help create a legacy to support their true passion of education. Drawing on the fruits of their life’s work, Philip Warner has honored the memory of his late wife with a $100,000 bequest to create an endowed scholarship in the College of Education that will provide need-based support to students who aspire to be teachers.
