What leadership roles and/or volunteer experiences have you had?
My public health interest was always supported by my drive to help the community. I volunteered at many places such as my summers at the Holy Cross Hospital. Being fluent in both Spanish and English really made me a sought after volunteer. Also, this Spring 2010 semester I am the founder and president of a new public health student association at the Shady Grove Campus called Students Engaged in Public Health (SEIPH). Its objectives are to educate and inform the student population about future in public health and community health issues.
What has your scholarship meant to you or enabled you to do?
I was thrilled and appreciative to learn that I was selected as the recipient.
I am truly honored.
Thanks to the donor's generous support I feel I am not alone and it has guided me a step closer in successfully completing my Public Health Science degree. I am currently a senior and plan to graduate in the fall 2010. After graduation, my dream is to attend the University of Maryland Pharmacy School to earn my pharmaceutical degree and in hopes to become a global health pharmacist. Thanks to the donors, I am one step closer to that goal.
