What is your favorite campus setting and why?
My favorite campus setting is either the engineering fields or the mall during early fall or springtime. I love throwing a frisbee around in this weather, or simply being able to relax and enjoy life.
Why is the University of Maryland special to you?
UM is special to me because of the people and the environment. The friends I have made through classes, clubs, or other means are diverse and have made my college experience so far a very enjoyable one. The campus is very beautiful, and I feel like I am getting an education that I couldn't receive anywhere else.
What has your scholarship meant to you or enabled you to do?
My scholarship has allowed both my parents and I to save thousands of dollars on education and to attend a prestigious research university. It will also allow me to graduate college with an appreciable amount of savings.
Who do you admire and find is a source of inspiration to you?
Ever since I was a child I admired Cal Ripken Jr. of the Baltimore Orioles for his work ethic and dedication to winning. In addition, my uncle actually knew him personally and I was able to attend his daughter's birthday party. This personal encounter with my idol, despite the fact that I was only 5 years old, had a large impact on me.
How will you make a positive difference in the world?
In order to make a positive difference in the world, I will not only strive to learn as much about our world and the way it works through my field of interest, physics. I will try to be the best person that I can by staying true to my values and respecting the rights of other people at all times.
